The Path to Amala

Mission Statement

Amala is a community organization offering exploration into self-expression, connection, and regulation for people with disabilities, and their network of natural support, through inclusive health, wellness, and interest-based practices.

Core Values

Assent

A commitment to honoring the preferences and input of the person served. Practices prioritize assent, honoring the participant’s choices for prompting, with choices provided for individual expression and practice. Your body, your choice of practice.

Compassion

An invitation to be gentle to others, and to oneself. Practices offer a shift to redirect harsh criticism or judgment towards understanding, kindness, and acceptance, recognizing a shared human experience.

Inclusion

A deliberate, ongoing priority to remove barriers and increase engagement in adaptive health and wellness activities. Practices are created and personalized to ensure people with disabilities have opportunities to feel welcomed, respected, honored, and valued.

Peace

A dedication of support in the search for harmony between the inner and outer world, offering practices that hope to bring moments of peace and safety to the mind, body, and spirit.

Well-being

An understanding that health is multifaceted. Practices emphasize exploration of authentic self-expression, connection, and purpose, so that people with disabilities can cultivate a fulfilled and meaningful life.

Your body, your choice of practice.
